Nikon D90 review part one - Did Nikon hit the sweet spot?

Nikon D90 review part one - Did Nikon hit the sweet spot?

When Nikon announced the FF camera D700 it seemed like the natural upgrade path from Nikon D300. I was considering the pros and cons for the move. I missed (and still do) the feeling of depth I got with my 35 and 85 mm primes and my Nikon SLRs. The high ISOs advantage is of [...]

Nikon D90 for action?

Nikon D90 for action?

How does the Nikon D90 handles action shooting? How does it feel if you are used to a fast camera like a Nikon D300? And how is the low light performance in a real world situation outside lab tests, like indoor sports? That was some of the things I wanted a answer on when I [...]

Visited “Fotomässan 2008″ - the largest photo expo of the year here in Sweden. No news or surprises, but here are some impressions and thoughts. Nikkor 70-200VR and TC17 - a system for teleshooting

The reason I bought the Nikkor 70-200VR 2.8 was the TC17 teleconverter. I was booked on a safari to Kenya (see the page “Going on safari?” here) and I wanted something better than the 70-300 ED I had at the time. If the new 70-300 VR had been available it had been an option.Judging by the [...]

Going on safari?

Going on safari?

For many photographers a safari is dream. Here is an article about my experiences from a travel to Kenya in the summer 2006. I also include some technical advice and tips at the end of the story. There is also a link to larger versions of the images.
The dream of Africa was originally my fathers. [...]

Nikkor 17-55 2.8

This is a lens which seems to divide people. Some are extremly happy with it and others are less satisfied. That suggests to me that there is some sample variation, and this test/user report is of course only about my specific sample.
First the physical impression: This is a beautifully made lens. It has a finish [...]

Nikkor 18-200VR

As I mentioned in my photoblog I used a Nikkor 18-200 VR lens for a week in Monte Gordo, Portugal. Here is a “hands on” user report.
The 18-200VR mounted on a Nikon D300. The other lenses are an alternate travel set - an Nikkkor 18-55 and 55-200VR.

Here is the 18-200VR fully extended to 200 mm.
